Enjoy autonomy in your role, managing a complex caseload and meeting the individual needs of citizens and their careers. Working with a range of social care, health and voluntary sector partners to provide specialist input in complex situations, you could also play a proactive role in developing new initiatives.

We’ll provide you with opportunities to take part in AMHP forums and carry out independent research – expanding and sharing your knowledge both to help improve best practice and maintain our learning culture. As an inspirational role model, your role will include mentoring newly-qualified social workers and help to train AMHP candidates.

To apply, you’ll need:

  • To be eligible to be registered with Social Work England – and we’ll pay your registration fees!
  • Hold AMHP status under the Mental Health Act [1983] or undertaking AMHP Training or be willing to undertake AMHP Training and we will pay your tuition fees!
  • Extensive knowledge of AMHP practice and relevant legislation.
  • A clear understanding of policy and procedure for social work with adults. 
  • Excellent assessment and support planning skills.

Approved Mental Health Practitioners (AMHPs) who are actively working on the AMHP rota will receive a fixed payment of £1,800 per annum, paid in monthly instalments at £150 per month. Due to the unique nature of these duties, the payment shall not be pro-rated if the employee is part-time.

OOH staff and AMHP’s working the twighlight shift (between 8pm – 10pm) would be entitled to time and a third for hours worked between 8pm and 6am only when part of the normal working week for the business area.
